Around twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, bringing strong winds reaching 109km/h.

Massive Hailstones and Widespread Damage

Locals witnessed giant hailstones as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units deployed to address the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

Emergency response teams received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for structural issues but also for fallen timber and inundation.

Most Affected Regions

• The Werribee area - recorded substantial destruction
• Hoppers Crossing - multiple rescue reports
• Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests

At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.

Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with persistent storm activity predicted across different parts of both areas.

Safety Concern

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.

This caution comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
